Chapter 265 - 262: It’s All Seth Quinn’s Fault for Troubling Her Heart

When she returned to the set two days later, everything was still the same. Aside from Sandra, who still took every opportunity to pick on her, everything else was fine.

Anyway, she was already used to Sandra’s jabs and had built up an immunity. So, as long as Sandra didn’t go too far, Clara Grant generally just ignored her.

It wasn’t that she held back because she still felt she owed her anything. Rather, she subscribed to the philosophy that ’if a dog bites you, you don’t bite it back.’

’As long as she doesn’t cause any real trouble, I’ll just treat her like some yapping dog.’

The only thing that truly made her uncomfortable was having to face Faye Jennings again.

In fact, Faye Jennings’s attitude toward her hadn’t changed. She was still the same senior actress, kind and gracious to her juniors, acting as if she hadn’t been the one to ignore Clara’s greeting the other day.

But Clara still found it awkward to see her. Especially when Faye Jennings would speak to her with a faint, lovely smile, a thought would pop into Clara’s head: ’Look at her smiling at you, but in her heart, she’s constantly coveting your husband. She probably wishes you’d divorce Seth Quinn right this second and make her dreams come true.’

Whenever that thought crossed her mind, Clara would wonder if she was being paranoid.

’Faye just has a simple crush on Seth Quinn, that’s all. She hasn’t done anything outrageous out of jealousy just because I married him.’

’Liking someone isn’t a crime, even if they’re married. As long as you don’t try to wreck their marriage, it isn’t morally bankrupt.’

’But fine, like him all you want! Why does the whole world have to know about it? Why act as if you and Seth Quinn are the real couple?’

This constant mental battle—making excuses for Faye Jennings on one hand while feeling she was in the wrong on the other—was driving Clara to the brink of a breakdown.

In the past, even though she knew Faye Jennings liked Seth Quinn, she’d never seen her as a rival, nor had she ever felt this strange, maddening frustration when they met.

But lately... ’It’s all Seth Quinn’s fault! It’s his fault for throwing my heart into turmoil!’

After shifting the blame to Seth Quinn, Clara finally felt a bit better. Then she started chanting to herself internally, ’Don’t overthink it, don’t overthink it. Just focus on filming, just focus on filming.’

After a week of this self-suggestion, she managed to throw herself wholeheartedly back into her work.

...

「That night, in the hotel room Clara Grant shared with Holly Summers.」

"Holly, can you help me run this scene?" Clara called out to Holly Summers, pointing to a part of the script.

Holly Summers leaned in for a look. It was one of Clara’s pivotal scenes. In the show, her character, Tina, had to protect the man she loved. When an enemy points a gun at Young Master Kingston, she unhesitatingly throws herself in front of him, sacrificing her life for love.

Although the man she loved did not love her back, she took the bullet for him without a trace of hesitation. As she collapsed into his arms, her eyes held no sorrow for her own fate. Instead, they shimmered with happiness, and of course, the serene relief of being finally set free.

The scene was scheduled to shoot in two days. Clara had never played a death scene before, and this one was crucial. She was worried she wouldn’t be able to properly capture Tina’s state of mind, so she’d been poring over the script for days, trying to figure out the best way to portray it.

"Alright, let’s do it," Holly agreed, straightening up and clearing her throat.

Since Holly was helping her rehearse, she would naturally play the part of "Young Master Kingston." Clara took her position beside her, and both of them quickly got into character.
