Chapter 105
Chapter 105
105: The Origin of God-given Magic
Evelia should have realized this earlier.
Although Jasmine and Lina had a falling out, they were still biological sisters in the end.
Since Lina was that perverted, there was no reason Jasmine would be any better.
Jasmine must have been holding back a lot in her daily life, unable to reveal her true nature because of her Saint identity.
"Cough, cough. Sorry, I lost my composure a bit."
Our Lady Saint seemed to realize her words were slightly inappropriate. She lowered her head with slightly flushed cheeks, looking rather bashful.
"Um, it's fine. Miss Jasmine, you were just led astray by that troublemaker Amya. Just blame everything on her."
"???"
Evelia took the opportunity to escape from under Amya and moved rather cautiously toward Jasmine. Amya merely glanced at her with deep meaning and began silently planning tonight's punishment "game" in her heart.
Evelia: Why do I suddenly feel chills down my back? And why are my thighs unconsciously pressing together?
"By the way, Miss Evelia, today is your first official work after joining the Church, right? According to regulations, I will now explain to you the foundation of the Church's establishment, the principles and usage of God-given Magic. Of course, with your magical talent being so high, learning it should be quite easy, right?"
Jasmine patted her cheeks and quickly transformed herself back into work mode, returning to her role as the Church's Saint who always appeared gentle and refined toward everyone.
Hmm, I have to say, Jasmine's transformation speed was really fast. Clearly well-practiced.
But come to think of it, could a demon like her really learn the Church's God-given Magic? That should be something opposite to her attributes, right?
Evelia couldn't help but worry.
"Do you need me to step aside?"
Amya pouted. Although she had finally recognized that Evelia was her older brother and really didn't want to be separated from her for even a second now, she was also a polite and sensible child who understood the importance of God-given Magic to the Church. Even though she was an angel, eavesdropping would be somewhat inappropriate.
"No need. Yahweh above, angels and our Church are all believers of the Lord. Why distinguish between us? What's more, as the Lord's chosen ones, angels are also one of the Church's objects of faith."
Surprisingly, Jasmine smiled and indicated it was fine. As if to reassure Amya, she pointed to the three statues behind the altar.
Amya turned her head and glanced at her teacher's statue, which was completely inconsistent with the person herself. The corner of her mouth twitched slightly.
"First, let's start with the origin of God-given Magic."
Jasmine clapped her hands together with a smile and told a story to Evelia.
……
According to legend, at the beginning of the world's creation, the Creator Yahweh also walked upon the earth. He created all things in this world: mountains, oceans, plains, the high heavens. He personally fashioned the life of this world and endowed each with their own characteristics so they could freely survive in the world.
In that era, dragons still soared through the skies. The forests were territories belonging exclusively to the children of nature, the elves. Dwarves lived among the towering mountain ranges. Angels, as Yahweh's chosen ones and messengers, were responsible for conveying God's will to all living beings.
Among the thousands of races in this world, only one race seemed as if it had been forgotten. They neither possessed the physique and strength of dragons nor the natural affinity of elves. Though they possessed wisdom, they could not freely use God's miracles, or magic, like other intelligent races. They could only exist as vassals and servants of various races, struggling to survive in the gap between pain and exhaustion.
The name of this race was humanity.
But humans also possessed characteristics unmatched by other races: their creativity and imagination were incredibly powerful! Relying on the wisdom of generation after generation of ancestors, humans created invention after invention that amazed even the dwarven craftsmen. Thanks to this, the human race gradually grew from slaves and servants who did hard labor for various races into a vassal race of God's chosen ones, the angels.
However, all things possessed spirit. Every existence with wisdom in the world would inevitably have desires to some degree. The wise men of humanity, the leader of that generation of humans, and also the founder of the Holy Church, the first Pope Otto, was not satisfied with humanity's status as mere vassals of the angels. He longed for humanity to obtain a status equal to other races, rather than being vassals or servants of any particular group.
But he also understood that in this world, even with the interference of the supreme Creator Yahweh, power remained the foundation of everything.
A race without power, unable to use magic, no matter how earth-shaking their wisdom might be, would never receive respect from other races, let alone obtain equal status with them.
For this reason, Otto made a bold decision.
To beseech the great Creator, the master of all living beings in the world, Yahweh, for the talent that should have originally been bestowed upon humanity.
After Otto finished instructing his subordinates on matters during his absence, he resolutely embarked on the journey to the High Heavens.
To reach the High Heavens, Otto climbed one mountain after another and arrived at the dragon race's territory, hoping to ascend to the High Heavens through the Tower of Heaven located at the very center of the dragon territory.
But how could the proud dragon race care about a weak human's request? They sneered at Otto's overestimation of himself, mocked humanity's weakness, and breathed scorching flames to burn Otto. In their eyes, this human wise man was like an ant on the ground that could be casually trampled and crushed.
Perhaps Otto's sincerity and determination moved the angels of Heaven. The Seraph leader who should have been guarding the Garden of Eden, Gabriel, descended wielding the Sword of Eden. She cleansed Otto of the flames and original sin, then took him to the High Heavens.
There, Otto did not see the supreme Creator. Instead, he met an angel as loving as a mother, the first living being created by the Lord, the Angel Lord Mikali.
"Wise one, the Lord has heard your call. But when the Lord created humanity, the purpose was for them to bear the ability of Creation to benefit all beings. The angels will protect humanity. Please return."
The Angel Lord spoke the cruelest words to Otto in a gentle voice. But he still refused to give up. He begged Mikali to grant him a chance to persuade the Lord. That gentle and kind Angel Lord seemed to sympathize with humanity's plight. She brought Otto before the Lord's dwelling and gave him seven days and seven nights to persuade the supreme Creator.
Otto knelt before the Lord's dwelling and prayed devoutly for seven days and seven nights. His mouth was filled with praise for the Creator. He described to the Creator how humans without power were oppressed and humiliated by other races on the ground. He wept to the Lord about what he had seen and heard on this journey. And the great Creator Yahweh was moved by Otto's sincerity and faith after seven days and seven nights. He slowly walked out of his palace, gently cut open his finger, and bestowed a drop of golden divine blood.
