The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot

Chapter 278: If You Never Forget, There Will Be an Echo

Chapter 278: If You Never Forget, There Will Be an Echo

The man looked fair and clean, with a delicate face, and at this moment, his expression was twisted with rage. Being subdued by a young girl, this big man surely felt displeased.

He lost face.

"Aaron Evans, what the hell are you doing here?"

Warren King widened his eyes, looking incredulously at the man in front of him.

Aaron Evans grew up abroad since he was a child, always studied overseas, so how come he’s appearing in Arkenfall now?

It seemed somewhat unexpected.

"I’m here for you."

Aaron Evans looked at Warren King with a gritted-teeth expression.

He had chased Warren King from abroad to Arkenfall.

Warren: "???"

What for?

"Isn’t that obvious? If you can chase after my goddess to Arkenfall, why can’t I chase you here?"

Aaron Evans glared fiercely at Warren King, even his words carried a hint of aggression.

He was also an admirer of Warren King’s so-called goddess, but during the pursuit, Warren had tricked him, and Aaron held a grudge. From then on, whenever he saw Warren, they were like fire and water.

Upon hearing that Warren had followed the girl back home, he hurriedly followed suit.

If he can’t have what he wants, Warren shouldn’t think he can either.

Warren: "My home is in Arkenfall."

The two of them unknowingly started arguing.

Holly Sawyer had long since released Aaron Evans, and now she stood with Leo Grant, watching these two argue.

It was quite entertaining to watch.

"Brother, I’m feeling a bit sleepy."

Holly Sawyer yawned and spoke softly.

The sky had already darkened, the sunset turned the western sky red, and the roses looked especially beautiful under its glow.

A bit sleepy.

"Cecilia doesn’t like me, and she won’t like you either."

"My goddess is beautiful as a flower, how could she fancy a jerk like you?"

"Warren King, don’t even think about it, if I can’t have her, you aren’t worthy either."

Aaron Evans barked, looking displeased with Warren King.

He had pursued his goddess but was blatantly rejected. He had since accepted it and didn’t plan on continuing.

Warren, however, wasn’t the same; he was rejected many times yet clung to his goddess like a piece of sticky tape, unable to be shaken off.

Cecilia?

Cecilia Bennett?

Holly Sawyer turned her confused gaze towards the real contenders in this quarrel.

"Who’s your goddess?"

Holly Sawyer calmly asked, her hand casually tucked in her pocket.

"Cecilia Bennett."

"Cecilia Bennett."

Both answered in unison.

They both had Cecilia Bennett as their goddess.

Cecilia Bennett was extraordinarily beautiful, an Eastern beauty particularly welcomed in the West, so naturally, she was pursued by many.

She wasn’t fond of going out, spending her days engrossed in studies, yet it didn’t hinder her many suitors.

She truly possessed great charm.

"Damn."

Holly Sawyer muttered softly, a hint of helplessness flickering in her eyes.

Cecilia Bennett indeed had many admirers.

Understanding Cecilia Bennett, she figured it was inevitable given her charming personality and beauty.

Leo Grant draped an arm around Holly Sawyer’s shoulder, silently observing.

"What’s up?"

Warren King asked with some confusion, looking at Holly Sawyer.

"You both like Cecilia Bennett?"

Holly Sawyer raised an eyebrow, looking amused as she gazed at Warren King and Aaron Evans.

Hmm, this little fox is quite likable indeed.

Both nodded in agreement, of course.

"What attracts you to her?"

Holly Sawyer asked with a playful smile.

"Sis, do you know her?"

Warren King didn’t answer but instead, his eyes widened as he looked at Holly Sawyer, his eyes brimming with hopeful light.

If Holly knew Cecilia, and they were relatively close, his chances might get closer, he thought.

"Don’t know her."

Holly Sawyer smoothly placed her hand back in her pocket, speaking with a cool detachment, completely unfazed by lying.

She spoke lightly, and her expression remained nonchalant.

Leo Grant stood beside her, holding back laughter, looking calmly at Holly without speaking.

"Ah, I thought you knew her."

Warren King expressed slight disappointment, speaking.

If Holly knew her, she might put in a good word for him, maybe save him some effort.

Pursuing Cecilia Bennett for so long without giving up was something even Warren himself hadn’t expected; he never imagined himself so persistent.

Perhaps love truly has some kind of magic, a magic he couldn’t decipher.

"I’m really sorry, don’t know her."

Holly Sawyer maintained her serene demeanor, as if she truly didn’t know her.

If Cecilia Bennett was present, she might want to punch Holly Sawyer.

What do you mean you don’t know her? You looking for trouble?

"It’s fine, let me show you around the flower field, sis."

He had started telling her but was interrupted by that random arrow.

Warren King started rambling on.

Holly Sawyer seemed to be listening earnestly, yet at the same time not really.

Holly Sawyer looked at the vibrant red roses, slightly curling her lips; Cecilia Bennett likes roses even more than she does.

Cecilia Bennett’s love for roses bordered on obsession; she could drive for hours from the city to the suburbs just to see them.

She would travel from one country to another, crossing thousands of kilometers just to see them.

She could do...

A lot of things, none of which were rational.

Holly Sawyer had her likes, but nothing had ever made her so dedicated.

She wouldn’t stay up late for a TV drama, wouldn’t lose sleep over a novel, wouldn’t guard an album from morning till night, wouldn’t...

She was rather carefree about it, believing in going with the flow.

She certainly wouldn’t drive long distances just for the beautiful roses here, she felt it wasn’t worth it; occasional visits were enough.

"They’re quite beautiful; how long have you liked her?"

Holly Sawyer admired the beauty of the flower field, yet posed another question.

Cecilia Bennett indeed seemed difficult to open up.

Holly mused if someone could persistently enter Cecilia’s life, would there be any break-through?

Perhaps difficult, but not impossible.

"Huh?"

Warren King was puzzled, not quite grasping Holly Sawyer’s question.

The first part praised the flower field’s beauty, but what was with the latter question?

"How long have you liked Cecilia Bennett?"

Holly Sawyer tilted her head toward Warren King, asking.

Warren was trustworthy, seemingly not a bad guy.

"About five years, I guess."

Mentioning this, Warren King lowered his head bitterly, feeling somewhat helpless.

It’s been so long, yet there’s never been a response.

Loving someone without reciprocation is truly exhausting.

Yet, Warren didn’t think he should give up.

What you never give up on, eventually comes around.
