Chapter 608 Happy and Joyful
Chapter 608 Happy and Joyful
"I knew you’d forget," Liu Shilin said irritably, shooting Lin Kuang a disdainful look.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang gave an embarrassed smile. "I knew my dear Shilin would remind me, so I just let myself forget."
Lin Kuang said this shamelessly. Hearing his words, Liu Shilin rolled her eyes in annoyance. This guy seems to be getting more shameless by the day.
The three of them chatted while bustling about in the kitchen. Meanwhile, Lin Guo’er, Witch, and Yang Ruoxi sat on the couch, keeping Mu Wan company. Gradually, Mu Wan began to relax. Just as Lin Kuang had said, the women were all incredibly kind. They treated her like a sister, helping her quickly fit into the group.
Around eleven-thirty in the morning, Lin Kuang, Liu Shilin, and Yang Ruotong finally emerged from the kitchen. Lunch was ready.
"Ladies, it’s time to eat!" Lin Kuang called out cheerfully. Having so many beautiful women with him made him incredibly happy. After all, this was a blessing few men could ever enjoy.
Hearing him, Lin Guo’er, Mu Wan, and the others all nodded and got up to wash their hands, ready for lunch. Lin Kuang, however, turned and went upstairs to find Xinxin. He had missed the little girl terribly after being away for so long.
A moment later, Lin Kuang arrived at Xinxin’s room. The little girl was sleepily blinking her eyes open, looking freshly awakened and utterly adorable.
"Little one, did you miss me?" Lin Kuang pinched her cheek and asked with a grin.
Xinxin gave Lin Kuang a drowsy look. When she finally recognized his face, her eyes widened.
"Uncle Lin!" she exclaimed happily, scrambling to her feet on the bed and leaping into his arms.
Lin Kuang caught her, hugging her tight and planting a kiss on her cheek. "That’s right, Uncle Lin is back. Are you happy?" he asked with a smile.
"So happy! Xinxin missed you so, so much," she said, nuzzling against him in his arms, completely overjoyed.
"Mm, Uncle Lin missed you too. Come on, let’s go downstairs and eat," Lin Kuang said, holding her.
"Okay, let’s go eat!" Xinxin replied with a smile. Lin Kuang nodded and carried her downstairs.
By then, Mu Wan, Liu Shilin, and the others were already seated at the dining table, waiting for him. When they saw Lin Kuang carrying Xinxin down, none of them had much of a reaction—it was a familiar sight. Mu Wan, however, blinked in astonishment.
This... This scoundrel’s child is already so big? she thought, stunned.
But an instant later, she came back to her senses. That’s not right. The girl in Lin Kuang’s arms is at least five or six years old, which would make the child the same age. But five or six years ago, Lin Kuang and I were still in the army. This child obviously can’t be his! With this realization, Mu Wan instantly recovered her composure. Though still puzzled, she knew this was not the right time to ask.
"Hi, Mom. Hi, Aunts," Xinxin greeted everyone with a bright smile. "Oh? There’s a new, pretty auntie here!" she added in surprise upon seeing Mu Wan.
Holding Xinxin, Lin Kuang approached Mu Wan with a smile. "Xinxin, this is Aunt Mu Wan. You can call her that," he said.
"Oh, hello, Auntie Mu Wan," Xinxin said obediently, looking extremely adorable.
Mu Wan smiled and nodded back. "Hello to you too, Xinxin." She took an instant liking to the little girl; she was just too cute.
"Xinxin, why don’t you let Auntie Mu Wan give you a hug?" Lin Kuang suggested with a chuckle.
"Okay!" Xinxin nodded obediently, stretching her small arms toward Mu Wan. "Auntie Mu Wan, hug me," she said cheerfully. The doll-like little girl was simply too endearing.
Mu Wan quickly reached out and took Xinxin into her embrace. "You’re such a good girl, Xinxin," she said, brimming with joy.
"Of course! I’m always very well-behaved," Xinxin said, beaming. Everyone burst into laughter; this little girl was truly their ray of sunshine.
Mu Wan chatted with Xinxin for a while longer before everyone finally started their meal. The atmosphere was warm and harmonious, full of laughter and conversation, making them look just like one big family.
After the meal, Liu Shilin and Yang Ruotong tidied up the dishes while Lin Kuang, Lin Guo’er, Mu Wan, and the others sat on the couch. They chatted and occasionally teased Xinxin, with peals of laughter constantly filling the air. When Liu Shilin and Yang Ruotong finished and rejoined them, the atmosphere grew even more lively.
"We’re free this afternoon, so let’s go shopping," Lin Guo’er suggested as the conversation flowed. "It’s Wan’er’s first visit, so we should take her out and show her around."
Hearing this, all the women expressed their wholehearted agreement, but Lin Kuang’s heart sank. Shopping with so many beautiful women would be exhausting! But then again, they’re all my women. I have to go, even if it wears me out completely.
"I agree! We’ll go shopping and grab some street food tonight!" Lin Kuang declared.
The women all nodded in satisfaction, seemingly pleased with his response.
"Then let’s get ready to go," Lin Guo’er said again.
The women all agreed. The next moment, Lin Guo’er, Liu Shilin, and the others all headed upstairs to get ready. After all, women have to dress up before going out. Even if they don’t wear makeup, they still need to try on a couple of outfits, right? Xinxin was taken along too, as she also needed to get dolled up.
Soon, only Lin Kuang and Mu Wan were left in the living room.
"Lin Kuang, what’s the deal with Xinxin?" Mu Wan asked curiously, looking at him. She kept her voice low so the others wouldn’t overhear.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang remained perfectly calm and showed no surprise. He knew Mu Wan too well and was certain she would ask. In fact, even if she had not asked, he had already planned to tell her anyway.
With that in mind, Lin Kuang began to briefly explain Xinxin’s story. He also explained the identity of Xinxin’s father, Tong Lin, who was also known as Inoue Kenta.
"So that’s what happened," Mu Wan nodded with understanding, a touch of sadness in her voice. "The poor little girl."
"Yes, but what’s happened has happened," Lin Kuang said with a smile. "Besides, Xinxin is living a very happy life now, and that’s all that matters."
Mu Wan nodded again. "That’s true. As long as she and her mother are happy, that’s what’s important. It looks like you’re quite the hero in all this, aren’t you?"
